Newport, New Hampshire– Patrick Michael Scanlon, 39, of Myrtle Street, died at his home Thursday, June 30, 2005, following a year-long battle with cancer. Pat was born in Newport on September 21, 1965, the son of John and Mary E. (Marr) Scanlon. He attended schools in Newport and also attended Kurn-Hatten in Westminster.

Patrick found his niche in life as a chef. He worked at the Eagle Inn, B. J. Brickers, The Anchorage and most recently at The Rusty Moose in Grantham for two years where he really felt the most at home doing what he loved. In Newport, on August 2, 2003, he married the former Tammy Lee Chick. Patrick was a loving and caring man who gave as much of himself as possible and of what he had to others around him, especially those in need. In addition to his wife, Tammy, survivors included his mother Mary "Cindy" Scanlon of Newport; a stepson, Kyle Chick: a stepdaughter, Dorothy Dickinson of Newport; a brother, Lance of Bangor, Maine, two sisters, Karen Grenier of Newport and Erica Bennett and her husband Brad, of Newport; "Grampa" John Heino of Claremont; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.; He is preceded in death by his father, John, in 1983, and two brothers; Kelly in 1981 and Leif in 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport. Burial will be private in Langdon, and at the convenience of the family.
